​MEET OUR THERAPISTS

​Contract OT/Yoga Instructor:  Christine Trefethen, MOT, OTR/L is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine. She joined the team at Honeybee Pediatric Therapy in 2013. Her experience includes evaluating and treating children ages two through teens with a variety of diagnoses including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, genetic disorders, sensory processing dysfunction, vision deficits, and developmental delays. She has additional training in Sensory Integration, DIR Floortime, Handwriting Without Tears, and Vision Deficits in Children. Christine is also a Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher. She has pursued additional training in utilizing yoga as a treatment modality for children with autism and special needs. In addition to working with children, Christine’s other passions include long-distance cycling, cross country skiing, and knitting. Christine lives on an Morning Glory Organic farm in western Maine.


Owner/OT:  Melissa Wood, OTR/L is a 1990 graduate of the University of New England.  She has been treating children in outpatient, school and community settings since 1992.  In 2012 she decided to open Honeybee Pediatric Therapy to provide child and family-friendly services in the Oxford Hills.  In addition to the training and experience she has in a wide variety of pediatric developmental disorders and medical diagnoses, Melissa also has specialized training in pediatric feeding, DIR Floortime, pediatric mental health and assistive technology. 

Leah Hanks, MOT, OTR/L is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine’s Master of Occupational Therapy Program.  Leah also has a Bachelor’s degree in Natural and Applied Science with a concentration in the biology of human health and illness, and a minor in holistic health.  Before finding her way to OT, Leah worked in skilled nursing facilities as part of the nursing staff as well as a recreation therapist.  She has also worked in hospitals, group homes, private homes, and schools.  In her free time, Leah enjoys spending time with loved ones, cooking them tasty food, and has a passion for nature.  Leah resides in western Maine with her husband and their 3 small children. Type your paragraph here.

Bailey Frost, MS OTR/L graduated from Husson University in 2016 with a masters degree in occupational therapy and bachelor'sdegree in psychology. She has previous experience as an OT in a preschool setting working with children with developmental delays, Autism and behavioral conditions. She has also worked as a Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) providing support to children and families in their homes. Bailey has also worked with children as a camp counselor and a coach at the middle school and high school levels. She currently lives in Fryeburg, Maine and enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time at her family camp in Poland during her free time.

Corie Lucier, MS OTR/L graduated from Plymouth State University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences and graduated from USM with a master’s degree in occupational therapy. She completed her first internship here at Honeybee and moved on to complete her last one at Bridgton Hospital where she worked with adults and children. Corie currently lives in Otisfield, ME and loves animals, cooking/baking, making crafts/experiments, and being on the water.

Maddy Smith, COTA/L  joined Honeybee Pediatric Therapy in 2023. She received her bachelors degree in kinesiology from the University of Maine in 2016 and associates in occupational therapy from Bates Technical College in Tacoma Washington in 2019. She has experience working with children in the outpatient setting since February of 2020. She is also certified and trained in Therapeutic Listening and primitive reflex integration from birth to adolescence. When not working she enjoys hiking, backpacking, skiing, kayaking, cooking, and being with family and friends!
